  6. Alinco DJ-V5 Modification.
  7. I have noticed you haven't listed the modification for the new "99"
  8. small two band HT. I couldn't wait so I ventured into it myself. It
  9. worked for me. So here it is.
  10. 1. Remove antenna, battery, tuning and volume knob and the rubber seals
  11. for the antenna and knob.
  12. 2. Place the radio face down on a soft cloth and remove the two lower
  13. self tapping screws from the back of the radio. The metal back holding
  14. the circuitry should slide out easy. Make sure you don't pull the two
  15. parts far apart due to the speaker is mounted in the plastic case. With
  16. the circuit board facing up and the lcd display above you will notice a
  17. small blue wire about 3/4" long ( small half loop) on the right side of
  18. the board located just below the two small surface mounted transistors
  19. labeled Q8 & Q9 and just above the speaker leads soldered to the board.
  20. You must snip this wire or desolder using a low wattage soldering
  21. station. If you snip wire make sure you tape or insulate wire so as not
  22. to let it short out or reconnect itself.
  23. 3. Assemble in reverse order. Hint, place self tapping screws into the
  24. metal holes and rotate screws backwards until the screw comes up
  25. slightly and then drops down. At this point turn screws inwards (
  26. clockwise ) to tighten. This helps from stripping plastic threads in the
  27. case.
  28. 3. With radio assembled you need to reset the cpu. This is done by
  29. pressing the
  30. Band Set button and then press the Power button. Your display should
  31. indicate RESET. Then press the lower left button on the front ( ./ down
  32. ) key.

  34. Your radio receive should be opened up now 76.000 to 999.995 MHZ. Your
  35. transmit should be opened up in the VHF and UHF band also. Remember you
  36. will loose all saved Frequencies when resetting cpu. As Amateurs we all
  37. know or should know the rules for proper operation. Warranty will be
  38. voided. This worked for me but I am taking no responsibility for harm
